NHL View for NHL14

Post by 36th » Tue Oct 08, 2013 12:57 pm

I stopped purchasing the games because of the lack of ability to edit rosters, particularly once you are in season mode.
I am curious about two things when it comes to the potential release of an editor for NHL 14.
1. Would it simply be a roster editor or would you be able to open season files and edit the roster for that season?
2. EA is notorious for hiding players in their roster updates, would this editor allow us access to those hidden players?

Thank you.

Hi,

Here are the answers to your questions:
1. The first version will allow to open only exhibition rosters from NHL09-NHL14. I'm planning to add leagues support shortly after.
2. Yes, all hidden players will be available.

There are alot of fields/tabs in the generic ea db editor that I'm wondering if they will be incorporated into NHL View Ng...
such as contract extensions and extension amount, as well as players head id and art id...

When you start a new season, it will use your exhibition rosters. If the season is in progress, it won't be affected by changes to the exhibition rosters.

Contract info, including extensions will be editable. Head and art id also; however, i will not have time to map the ids to user-friendly descriptions. So you'll be able to chnage ids, but will have to see for yourself how it affects a given player. Finally, custom appearance attributes will not be present in initial release.

As you know, there are gazillion fields. I will add them little by little but the initial release will only concentrate on the most important fields.

Awesome job Artem. I've done a ton of work fixing head IDs in the generic editor and I'll post a spreadsheet of suggested edits for any curious parties. Excited to have attribute editing made easier. Thanks for your work.

Thanks so much for the answers, Artem. Editable season mode would probably re-interest me in this game. Can't wait to see how it all turns out, thanks so much for continuing your work with NHL View! :)

EA released its first "Dynamic Ratings Update". How does it affect the roster files? Is the update a roster file itself, or some kind of patch to the existing roster? Are they viewable/editable in NHL View?

It's not a roster update, since #4 is still the newest that is up. I think it is the "online roster" that gets updated.

"These ratings changes are available to challenge in both the ‘Play Now’ and ‘Online Versus’ modes"
I would guess you should download it somehow? Or do they come automatically?
